Reducing muscle protein activity strengthened bone health
University of Missouri-Columbia
According to researchers from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, reducing the activity of myostatin, a protein that normally stops muscles from growing too big, improved bone density in a preclinical mouse model of pregnant women with osteogenesis imperfecta.

EdUHK explores classroom applications of AI new learning platforms enhance teaching and learning
The Education University of Hong Kong
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in classroom practice in Hong Kong, following the Education Bureau's release of the Blueprint for Digital Education Development in Primary and Secondary Schools and its commitment to supporting innovative technology in schools. The latest research from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) underscores that AI's educational value lies not in computational speed, but in its integration with rigorous, evidence-based and student-centred frameworks for assessment. These findings provide timely guidance for Hong Kong's digital transformation in education.

PolyU develops durable shade-stable perovskite–organic tandem solar cells, advancing thin-film solar technology application
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
It is common for solar panels to be shaded by trees, clouds, birds or buildings. For thin-film solar technologies, however, such shading can cause the shaded areas to develop reverse bias stress (negative voltage), which can reduce power-generation efficiency and even damage the modules of the solar cell. A research team at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has successfully developed a new generation of perovskite–organic tandem solar cells (POTSCs) that not only deliver high power-generation efficiency but also effectively resist the damage caused by negative voltage. Even under an extreme reverse-bias of –40 V, the tandem devices retain more than 90% of their initial power-generation efficiency, far surpassing all existing thin-film solar technologies — marking a key step towards the practical application of thin-film solar technology.
