Organelle-anchored translation factories: the roles of neuronal RNA-binding protein condensates in organizing local protein synthesis in neurological diseases
Higher Education PressNeurons face an exceptional proteostasis challenge because their extreme polarization requires rapid proteome remodeling at distal axons and synapses. Rather than acting as separate systems, ribonucleoprotein granules and membranous organelles cooperate to form mobile translation platforms.

Human embryo editing: 10 years of breakthroughs and challenges
Higher Education Press
Over the past decade, the field of human embryo editing has witnessed remarkable advancements and triggered significant ethical debates. Since the first reported editing in 2015, the field has shown promise for treating genetic disorders and studying early development, the field has shown promise for treating genetic disorders and studying early development, but it still grapples with safety concerns, including off-target effects, mosaicism and the long-term impacts of genetic alterations, as well as ongoing ethical controversies.

Patient‑specific profiling of TCR‑T cell efficacy enabled by a rapid and standardized reporter system
Higher Education Press
T cell receptor-engineered T (TCR-T) cell therapy has shown promising clinical potential, yet accurate assessment of patient suitability remains challenging because current genomic and transcriptomic approaches do not directly capture physiological antigen presentation or authentic T-cell responsiveness. Here, we developed a rapid and standardized Jurkat-based reporter platform, termed the TCR-SignalFunc system, for functional evaluation of TCR-T cell therapeutic potential.

Structural basis of Arpin homodimerization reveals cooperative inhibition of the Arp2/3 complex through dual-site engagement
Higher Education PressThe Arp2/3 complex, a core component of the actin filament network, mediates the formation of branching points upon activation by nucleation-promoting factors (NPFs), which is essential for diverse cellular processes such as lamellipodial protrusion and directional migration.

Beyond the operating room: How 3D printing and medical–engineering collaboration are driving the next era of precision orthopedics
Shanghai Jiao Tong University Journal CenterA team from Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital reviewed 216 foot and ankle cases managed through a medical–engineering collaboration workflow powered by 3D printing and digital planning. Rather than treating 3D printing as a standalone tool, the researchers built an integrated system that connects imaging, virtual surgical planning, personalized guides, rehabilitation devices, and even patient-specific implants.
The results highlight a shift from “one-size-fits-all” surgery toward truly individualized treatment.

Conventional vs. conservation tillage: Is it worth shifting?
KeAi Communications Co., Ltd.A 20-year field experiment in western Hungary compared conservation tillage with conventional ploughing across six crops and contrasting weather conditions. Researchers identified four stages, Transitional, Adapted 1, Steady and Adapted 2, showing that benefits developed gradually and required continued management. Although yields and profits initially declined, later improvements in equipment and farming practices reversed the trend. Over 20 years, conservation tillage raised average yields by 3.9%, reduced operating costs by 9.8% and increased profit by 13.0%, equivalent to almost €200 per hectare annually. The authors conclude it can be economically worthwhile, but farmers should expect a transition period rather than immediate returns.

Health security disparities in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: A comparative analysis using an integrated MCDM and clustering approach
KeAi Communications Co., Ltd.A team of researchers from Yemen and Saudi Arabia analyzed and compared health security performance (HSP) between Gulf Cooperation Council and non-Gulf Cooperation Council countries within the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) for 2019 and 2021, recognizing the critical role of health security in managing global health threats. The study utilized data from the Global Health Security Index (GHSI) for 2019 and 2021. Key health security priorities were identified using the entropy objective weighting method. The VIKOR (VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) method was employed to rank countries based on overall performance. K-means clustering was applied to group countries with similar health security profiles. Pearson’s and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients were used to assess relationships between independent HSP indicators and overall performance scores. A significant shift in health security priorities within the EMR was observed between 2019 and 2021, with prevention gaining prominence. Gulf Cooperation Council countries emphasized detection and reporting, while non-Gulf Cooperation Council countries prioritized health systems and prevention. Gulf Cooperation Council countries, particularly Qatar and Saudi Arabia, consistently demonstrated strong HSP. Conversely, non-Gulf Cooperation Council countries facing conflict and instability, such as Yemen, Somalia, and Syria, exhibited weaker performance. Health system capacity, prevention, detection and reporting, and risk environment showed robust correlations with overall HSP. This study underscores the necessity for tailored, adaptive policies to address HSP disparities across regions, highlighting investment in prevention, detection, and reporting. It stresses international collaboration, improved policy implementation, and ongoing research to enhance global health security systems across diverse contexts.
