Synergizing trade and sustainability: advancing SDG 14 through international trade dynamics
Compuscript Ltdhttps://doi.org/10.1007/s44312-024-00025-2
Announcing a new publication for Marine Development journal. The global trade of marine resources, encompassing a wide range of goods from seafood to marine-derived pharmaceuticals, plays a pivotal role in the economies of many nations and the livelihoods of millions of people worldwide. However, this trade is also at the heart of some of the most pressing environmental challenges facing our oceans today, including overexploitation of species, habitat destruction, and the spread of invasive species.Genomic perspective for understanding ecological adaptability in oaks

Chromium-62 study helps researchers better understand shapes around islands of inversion
Michigan State University Facility for Rare Isotope BeamsIn a recent paper in Nature Physics, an international research collaboration used world-class instrumentation at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) to study the exotic nuclide, or rare isotope, chromium-62. Researchers used a gamma-ray spectroscopy experiment in tandem with theoretical models to identify an unexpected variety of shapes in chromium-62. The finding provides more insight into so-called “islands of inversion,” or regions in the nuclear chart where certain nuclides diverge from traditional viewpoints based on the properties of stable nuclei.

To Kickstart a Kickstarter, give to yourself
University of Texas at AustinNew research from Raghunath Rao, chair of marketing and Arthur James Douglass Centennial Professor in Entrepreneurship and Small Business at Texas McCombs, finds that one practice in particular can help draw donors to worthy projects: a significant self-donation early in a campaign.
“We find that self-donations accelerate the pace of donations and increase the donation amounts from other donors, leading to greater fundraising success,” Rao says.
