A new national survey of informal supporters of people with disability who have received NDIS-funded behaviour support services has found that families are often asked to choose behaviour support practitioners without enough information to judge their qualifications, experience or approach.

A new paper shows striking biological similarities between five major illnesses which until now have largely been viewed as separate disorders.

The findings suggest that chronic fatigue syndrome (also known as ME), long Covid, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis (MS) may be driven by common underlying mechanisms.

This is despite the conditions being triggered by different events - ranging from viral infections to psychological trauma or autoimmune responses.

Investigators from the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute have found that adults with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) receiving a less-intensive combination of azacitidine and venetoclax had more than twice as much time before treatment failed, the leukemia returned or worsened, or they died, compared with patients receiving intensive chemotherapy. Published in The New England Journal of Medicine, the findings could change the initial treatment approach for many patients with AML.
