The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has a strong research track record in space technology, with its researchers involved in several national and international space exploration projects. A PolyU project has recently been awarded the Innovation and Technology Fund under the Innovation and Technology Support Programme (ITSP) for key space technology capability research and development with application in terrain cameras.

Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) showcased the latest broadcasting and media technologies, developed by its researchers, at NAB 2025—the world’s largest international broadcasting equipment exhibition—held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States over four days from April 5.

The Institut Laue-Langevin has just received a firm commitment from its Associate countries, France, the UK and Germany, to continue operation until 2033. “We have been working very hard to secure a unanimous commitment from all three Associate countries and are delighted with the decision,” says ILL Director, Ken Andersen, “The ILL is now in a position to plan scientific operation until the end of 2033.”

A rehabilitation scientist and his team at The University of Texas at El Paso are exploring an alternative way to alleviate knee pain. In collaboration with Harvard Medical School and Boston University, the team has conducted a pilot trial on an innovative method to treat osteoarthritis (OA)-related knee pain by stimulating the vagus nerve through the ear.

A small team led by Sihao Cheng, Martin A. and Helen Chooljian Member in the School of Natural Sciences, has discovered an extraordinary trans-Neptunian object (TNO) at the edge of our solar system. The TNO is potentially large enough to qualify as a dwarf planet, the same category as the much more well-known Pluto. The discovery has significant implications for our understanding of the Kuiper Belt and hypotheses that surround the existence of Planet Nine.
