UTA discovery could power next-gen devices
University of Texas at ArlingtonResearchers at The University of Texas at Arlington have discovered a surprising new type of magnetic property that could lead to stronger magnets made from tiny particles of common iron oxide. This breakthrough could enhance the performance of everyday technologies while reducing on the need for rare-earth metals—materials that are more costly, less sustainable and harder to obtain.

Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization- The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS) was opened on 16.07.1925 as the “Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Fluid Dynamics” under the direction of Ludwig Prandtl
- Over the decades, the scientific focus was expanded from flow research to self-organizing physical processes and complex networks, and the institute was renamed in 2004
- The official ceremony took place on July 16, 1925, exactly 100 years after the opening of the institute, with 350 invited guests in the auditorium of the University of Göttingen
Researching heat waves in the ocean: Divers collect temperature data
MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, University of BremenWith the help of divers, the BlueDOT project is collecting temperature data from the ocean. The aim is to better track changes in ocean temperature and monitor marine heat waves. The BlueDOT citizen science project is being coordinated by MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen.

FrontiersSpace research: The key to cosmic environmental stewardship
International Science Council Committee on Space ResearchScience and Exploration
Exploring space around us is an integral part of the human mindset. With modern astronomy we look far into the cosmos and deep into our past, and the spectacular development of Solar System exploration over the last decades has taught us a lot about the “big science questions” we have about its origin, the mechanisms that drive its evolution, and the habitability of its diverse worlds. While this great harvest of discoveries has provided partial answers to these “big questions”, it has also opened new and deeper questions about our relation to the Cosmos that can only be answered by the next waves of exploration missions: we are still far from seeing humankind become an “interstellar species”.
