Demand for medical imaging in the U.S. keeps rising, but the number of radiologists available to read those images has barely budged relative to the population, according to a new research study published in the JACR®.

Researchers have created a detailed map of childhood Crohn’s disease before and after treatment to help understand progression of the disease. The research, published previously as a Reviewed Preprint in eLife and appearing now as the final Version of Record, is described by the editors as an important study that substantially advances our understanding of pediatric Crohn's disease, mapping its cellular make-up and how patients respond to treatment.

The Hertz Foundation today opened applications for the 2027 Hertz Fellowship, the nation’s most competitive doctoral fellowship in the applied sciences, engineering and mathematics. The Hertz Fellowship application closes on October 30, 2026. Fellowship finalists will be named in February 2027, and fellowship awards will be officially announced in May 2027.
