Authorities in Mauritius will begin combatting illegal fishing with satellite technology thanks to a partnership between the University of Surrey and the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC).

This week (14-20 April) the University of Warwick welcomes a cohort of early career researchers (ECRs) to its Sustainability Training School.

From a young age, people learn the importance of paying attention to the environment around them. Less emphasized is the value of paying attention to their inner environment. Neuroscientists are increasingly studying how looking inward via mindfulness training can affect everything from depression and memory to stress levels and aging. As researchers work to uncover the neural mechanisms underlying these brain changes, they are discovering best practices for people who want to incorporate mindfulness in their lives, as being presented at CNS 2024 in Toronto.

The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) is proud to announce the Inaugural International COSPAR Planetary Protection Week (ICPPW), funded by the UK Space Agency (UKSA), organised by AstrobiologyOU at the Open University, and co-sponsored by Cornell University and ESA. The week is scheduled to take place from 22 to 25 April 2024, in London, UK. This landmark event will bring together leading experts, scientists, policymakers and space agencies from around the world to advance the critical objective of planetary protection.

“Dreams are messages from the deep.” (Dune Part 1) Musings about dreams abound throughout society, from movies to TV to books. But despite being a constant source of fascination, the role of dreams in our lives still remains elusive. As recently noted in the TV show Grey’s Anatomy: “Honestly, no one knows why we dream or why we have nightmares.” While true, neuroscientists are finding innovative new ways to study dreams and how they influence our cognition, as being presented at CNS 2024 in Toronto.
