The Association for Psychological Science, the leading global organization dedicated to advancing scientific psychology for the benefit of science and society, is revamping its roster of regularly scheduled events to better foster global scientific collaboration and environmental sustainability. Starting in 2025, APS will merge its Annual Convention and the biennial International Convention of Psychological Science (ICPS). The new APS Annual Convention will rotate outside of North America every 3 years.  

A Cambridge Festival talk will examine the role of monarchies across the world and show how republics and their systems can sometimes morph into them – with a particular focus on the forthcoming United States Presidential election.

The European Lung Cancer Congress 2024 is the annual appointment that brings together various experts in the field of thoracic oncology, including thoracic surgeons, respiratory physicians and pneumologists, medical and radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists and pathologists, to discuss the latest insights into the recent developments in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. 

The event will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, and through a dedicated virtual platform between 20-23 March.

The German Federal Minister of Health, Karl Lauterbach, visited IQWiG and thanked the staff for their commitment. He sees new tasks ahead for the Institute.

With the aim of addressing the most pressing environmental problems of our time, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) is organising the "Growth vs Climate Conference 2024" from 13-15 March 2024. The event will gather leading scientists, thinkers, policymakers, activists and journalists at the UAB campus in Cerdanyola del Vallès.  

The Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) Forum 2024 will be taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 25 to 29 June 2024. Registration for media is free and is now open.

CAR-T cells are considered a major innovation in cancer therapy: The T cells – i.e. the immune system’s white blood cells – of people with cancer are altered in laboratories in such a way that they can specifically identify and eliminate tumour cells. People with previously incurable blood cancer diseases have been successfully treated in this way. Now the therapy is also being used for other diseases such as auto-immune diseases, infectious diseases, and cardiac fibrosis. In an interdisciplinary Leopoldina Symposium on Monday, 8 April and Tuesday, 9 April, international experts will discuss current CAR-T cell therapy approaches for these and other, non-malignant diseases.
