Fruit quality is not determined by genetics alone. Water availability, salinity, heat, and cold can all reshape fruit color, sweetness, acidity, aroma, texture, antioxidant activity, and ripening behavior.
Brake-by-wire systems are becoming a core technology for intelligent electric vehicles, but their performance depends heavily on a compact, reliable and responsive booster motor. A study in Green Energy and Intelligent Transportation presents a structured design method for the booster motor used in brake-by-wire systems, combining motor selection, electrical and mechanical design, simulation optimization and prototype verification.
Fuel cell buses are a promising route toward cleaner public transport, but their real-world efficiency depends on more than the vehicle powertrain alone. A study in Green Energy and Intelligent Transportation presents a hierarchical predictive energy management strategy that uses traffic information around bus stops to guide how fuel cell buses plan battery state of charge and allocate power as they approach stopping events.
This study systematically investigates how chronological age, clinical facial aging features, and perceived age are related in Chinese women aged 15–65 years. By combining expert grading, standardized facial photography, and non-expert age perception assessment, the authors establish a practical method for evaluating perceived age. The findings show that perceived age tends to be slightly older than chronological age and is strongly associated with visible aging features, especially nasolabial folds, marionette folds, facial contour laxity, uneven skin tone, and reduced radiance. This work provides a consumer-relevant tool for anti-aging product evaluation and targeted skincare development.
Researchers have developed a simple lead-based catalyst strategy that significantly improves the performance of iron-chromium redox flow batteries, a class of long-duration energy storage systems widely seen as promising for large-scale grid applications. By introducing lead chloride into the electrolyte and enabling a catalyst to form directly on the electrode surface during operation, the team was able to improve chromium reaction kinetics, suppress hydrogen evolution, and achieve markedly higher energy efficiency under demanding operating conditions.
Researchers have developed a lightweight fault-diagnosis framework for high-speed train bogies that is designed for edge deployment while still maintaining strong cross-domain diagnostic performance. The study addresses a persistent challenge in railway intelligence: how to run deep learning models close to the train or infrastructure, where computing resources are limited, without losing accuracy when operating conditions change.
A new study offers a clearer view of how mechanical stress and electrochemical processes interact inside lithium-ion batteries, providing a multi-scale framework that could support better battery design and stress monitoring. By combining time-domain and frequency-domain analysis, the research helps explain how diffusion-induced stress influences lithium transport from individual particles up to the electrode level.
