This study establishes a general design platform for narrowband emitters via precise control over molecular skeletal engineering. By directing π‑electron reorganization, aromaticity is rationally tuned from global delocalization to discrete local localization, which restricts long‑range π‑electron delocalization, suppresses vibrational coupling in the excited state, and diminishes vibronic shoulder features, thereby enabling intrinsically narrowband emission. OLED devices incorporating representative emitter achieve both exceptional color purity and high electroluminescence efficiency, with CIE coordinates that closely match the BT.2020 standard for red emission.
A highly efficient immobilized cell system for continuous production of cadaverine, a key building block for polyamide synthesis was successfully developed, which demonstrated a 19-fold improvement in catalyst productivity compared to free cells, achieving stable operation for 200 hours in a packed-bed reactor.
A method using a “green” solvent made from ethylenediamine and choline chloride is provided to restructure industrial lignin. The process significantly increases the active sites on lignin while preventing unwanted clumping, transforming a low-value byproduct of the paper industry into a viable substitute for petroleum-based materials.
A new review maps out how polymer-based electrodes could help solve persistent safety, stability, and sustainability problems in solid-state metal-ion batteries. Unlike conventional designs that rely on flammable liquid electrolytes and rigid inorganic materials, polymer electrodes offer mechanical flexibility, chemical tunability, and superior interfacial contact. The analysis synthesizes recent advances in conducting and redox-active polymers, highlighting their potential to enable all-organic solid-state batteries that are lightweight, intrinsically safe, and compatible with low-energy manufacturing. The authors also identify key design strategies—including molecular engineering, composite formation, and interface modification—that could accelerate the transition from laboratory prototypes toward practical, scalable energy storage devices.
Aiming at the problems of severe degradation and complex impurities in high-acid-value waste cooking oil, a multi-stage coupled refining process including phosphoric acid degumming, alkali refining deacidification, activated carbon decolorization/deodorization and winterization was established. Waste cooking oil was successfully converted into natural ester insulating oil meeting power industry standards, providing a new pathway for the green and high-value utilization of kitchen waste oil.
A research team led by Academician Peisong Hu from the China National Rice Research Institute has identified the key gene OsSD7, which controls seed dormancy and pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) resistance in rice. The study reveals that OsSD7 encodes an F-box protein that forms an SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, targeting the jasmonate repressor OsJAZ9 for degradation, thereby relieving suppression of the ABA signaling pathway. ABA induces the transcription factor OsTRAB1, which activates OsSD7 expression. A natural SNP (3,744,951) in the OsSD7 promoter distinguishes two haplotypes: Hap A (high expression, strong dormancy and PHS resistance) and Hap G (low expression, weak resistance). The Hap A allele has been artificially selected in modern Xian varieties. Using CRISPR to convert Hap G to Hap A successfully improved PHS resistance in rice, and overexpression of OsSD7 in wheat also enhanced seed dormancy, indicating a conserved mechanism across monocot crops. This study provides valuable genetic resources for breeding PHS resistance in rice, wheat, and other cereals.
Based on the generalized road rights theory, this study establishes an interval calculation model for photovoltaic (PV) power generation potential of expressways, covering service areas, toll stations, maintenance bases, and slopes under multi-credibility confidence levels. Taking Hunan Province in China as an example, we quantify PV potential and energy consumption matching in short-, medium- and long-term periods. Slopes are identified as the largest potential scenario, revealing the evolution from energy consumption to self-sufficiency and surplus power grid connection, supporting the deep integration of transportation and energy.
Based on panel data from 2004 to 2023 covering 30 provinces in China, this study establishes a three-dimensional (economic, technological, institutional) indicator system to evaluate the carbon unlocking level of transportation infrastructure. The entropy weight method and natural breaks method are applied to classify regional and provincial levels, revealing a clear gradient gap and provincial differentiation, which supports low-carbon transition in the transport sector.
Researchers have achieved the first real-space imaging of altermagnetic domains in RuO2 using a novel thermal imaging technique. By combining lock-in thermography with the spin-dependent Peltier effect, the team visualized micrometer-scale magnetic domains and demonstrated controlled domain manipulation through magnetic field cooling. This breakthrough provides robust experimental evidence for altermagnetism in RuO2 and establishes a new approach for characterizing this emerging class of magnetic materials, with significant implications for future spintronic devices.
With global life expectancy steadily increasing, the growing gap between lifespan and healthspan has placed the aging of the female reproductive system at the forefront of biomedical research. This process, which profoundly impacts fertility, quality of life, and long-term health, is no longer viewed simply through the lens of chronological age or menopause. Instead, a paradigm shift is underway, where aging is understood as a distinct biological process best quantified by multi-omics technologies and computational models known as "aging clocks." These tools—encompassing epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiomics—provide a powerful, integrated framework to measure biological age, reveal tissue-specific vulnerabilities, and elucidate systemic aging patterns that chronological metrics fail to capture. While this research area is still evolving, the growing availability of high-quality datasets offers unprecedented opportunities to advance our understanding of reproductive aging, infertility, and pregnancy complications, moving towards more personalized and predictive healthcare.
