T-cell receptor-modified T cells (IMAGE)
Caption
T-cell receptor-modified T cells (TCR-T cells) are the body's own immune cells that are genetically engineered to incorporate a specific targeting device (T-cell receptor) directed against the tumor marker. This enables the TCR-T cells to distinguish the tumor cell from healthy cells and kill it.
