Scientists reveal brain signaling that sets Parkinson’s disease apart from essential tremor
Virginia TechPeer-Reviewed Publication
For the first time, scientists directly measured how dopamine and serotonin signals diverge in people with Parkinson’s disease versus essential tremor, revealing a fundamental difference between the two movement disorders. This distinction, captured through real-time recordings during surgery, may help sharpen diagnoses and guide more targeted treatments for patients with tremor-related disorders.
