Novel Viral Concoction Tracks SIV Transmission in Female Macaques in Critical Early Window (1 of 1)

image: This example illustrates how two different variants of the SIV virus followed a similar trajectory during the initial days after they were introduced to rhesus macaques, but one variant ultimately spread more successfully than the other. The availability of CD4+ T cells at the infection site determined each variant's trajectory. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the May 29th, 2019, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by C. Deleage at Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research in Frederick, MD, and colleagues was titled, "Defining early SIV replication and dissemination dynamics following vaginal transmission." view more
