BETHESDA, MD – February 9, 2026 | The ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine is proud to present the 2026 ACMG Foundation David L. Rimoin Inspiring Excellence Award to Benjamin Boros, PhD, at Washington University in St. Louis, for his abstract, “O25 Treatment for AD Disorders: Amplifying Protein Expression with Gene-specific Antisense Oligonucleotides Targeting a Common 3'UTR Motif,” which will be delivered as a platform presentation at the 2026 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Boros earned his PhD in Neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis, where he conducted his doctoral research under the supervision of Timothy Miller, MD, PhD. His work focused on RNA regulation through untranslated regions and epigenetic control in the developing brain. He has a particular interest in developing and applying antisense oligonucleotide strategies that leverage existing RNA regulatory systems to advance gene-targeted therapies. Dr. Boros is currently completing his medical training and plans to pursue residency training in medical genetics, with the goal of establishing a career as a clinician-scientist focused on therapeutic development for rare neurological diseases.

The progress we are making in this technology will significantly accelerate gene-targeted therapeutics for many rare disorders, including dozens of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions. I am optimistic that our work highlighted here will inspire researchers and clinicians to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in developing effective therapies.”
