Grant and Award Announcement

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo

In order to foster the association between São Paulo universities and researchers with outstanding international performance in their research areas, FAPESP launches a call for research support through International Thematic Grants (InTheGra), aimed at researchers (Brazilian or foreign) who are residing abroad, without employment for less than 12 months.

The InTheGra scholarship can be awarded for a period of up to 24 months and is not renewable beyond that duration. Upon completion of the fellowship, the Principal Investigator is expected to obtain institutional employment by applying for permanent vacancies open in the host country or in other institutions in the state of São Paulo (tenure option) or as a visiting reseracher.

Interested parties in this Call must submit to FAPESP a research project proposal that must follow the orientation of the Thematic Projects. These are distinctive due to the nature, boldness and scope of the proposed research activities and the experience required of the Principal Investigator in the field of the project, involving a multidisciplinary team of several researchers (co-principal and associate researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, technical support staff) aiming at scientific outcomes at the frontier of knowledge.

The Principal Investigator of the proposal must hold a PhD degree or equivalent, completed at least 10 years ago. The candidate must demonstrate successful experience as a researcher in an internationally competitive research group outside Brazil. The projects selected by this Call will have a maximum duration of 60 months, non-extendable.

This Call also establishes that the Host Institution of the selected proposal offers the holder of the InTheGra modality full administrative support, access to all its facilities and inclusion among the professors of its graduate courses as ways to ensure the implementation of the research project supported by FAPESP.

The Call will be open until June 30 to welcome pre-proposals; On July 31, the pre-qualified candidates to submit full proposals will be announced, with a deadline of September 28. Submissions will be made via SAGe.

The call is available on fapesp.br/17523.
