EuroPCR 2024 – Built by and for its participants, more than ever before

The annual World-Leading Course in interventional cardiovascular medicine takes place on 14-17 May 2024 - Paris, France. It is the official annual congress of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI)

Meeting Announcement

PCR

Over 11,000 participants from around the globe are once again expected at EuroPCR – a Course tailored for interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, radiologists, nurses, allied professionals and other practitioners, as well as researchers, innovators and industry representatives. They will be sharing their knowledge, skills and experience on interventions for coronary and peripheral vessels, valvular disease, heart failure, hypertension and stroke.

Course Directors Thomas Cuisset (FR), Nicolas Dumonteil (FR), PCR Co-Chairman Jean Fajadet (FR), Nieves Gonzalo (SP) and PCR Chairman William Wijns (IE) implemented comprehensive surveys of PCR Companions, nurses and allied professionals to ensure the Course is more than ever built by and for the community, and continues to meet the field’s constantly evolving educational needs

The extensive 4-day scientific programme is an opportunity for participants at all stages of their career to improve their daily practice and to gain insights into the latest advancements in interventional cardiology.

A total of 66 Late-Breaking Trials and Hotlines will be presented in Paris. A dedicated Major Late-Breaking Trials at EuroPCR 2024 session will notably reveal three that have the potential to make a significant impact on current practice

  • First TAVI vs. SAVR randomised trial in younger low-risk patients with severe tricuspid or bicuspid aortic valve stenosis - results from NOTION-2 - O. De Backer
  • One-month DAPT followed by 5-month Ticagrelor monotherapy in ACS with DCB - T. Ling
  • Early outcomes of a randomised non-inferiority trial comparing TAVI devices: the LANDMARK trial - P. W. Serruys

More details can be found here:

29 simulation-based learning sessions in the Simulation Learning Rooms and the Hands On Lab will provide practical hands-on guidance, for procedures such as mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, transseptal puncture, commissural alignment for TAVI, antegrade and retrograde CTO, echo-guidance of arterio-venous access/large bore access closure, and bifurcation PCI with upfront two-stent strategy.

Imaging guidance is an essential part of cardiovascular interventions, and the Course will shine a light this year on the key role of the Heart Team’s imagers. Participants will be able to enhance their OCT, IVUS, CT scan and multimodality imaging skills through a practical and hands-on approach, in “Focus on Imaging” sessions, covering both coronary and valvular interventions.

EuroPCR received a record-breaking 3,100+ submissions for this 2024 edition, with an acceptance rate of 65% and over 1,500 selected for onsite presentation in Paris.

12 LIVE Educational cases will be covering topics such as: calcified lesions, TAVI, left main stenosis, mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, LAA closure, antegrade CTO, multivessel disease, and non-LM bifurcation. They will be broadcast from 8 LIVE Centres across the world:

  • Johannesburg, South Africa - Netcare Sunninghill Hospital
  • Leipzig, Germany - Heart Center
  • Madrid, Spain - Hospital Clínico San Carlos
  • Mainz, Germany - University Medical Center
  • Massy, France - Cardiovascular Institute Paris Sud
  • Poznan, Poland - University of Medical Sciences
  • Rome, Italy - Policlinico Universitario Fondazione Agostino Gemelli
  • Toulouse, France - Clinique Pasteur

Worldwide outreach is further enhanced by the active involvement of 68 National Societies and Working Groups in 23 joint sessions. An additional 6 collaborative sessions will also be providing an opportunity to compare and learn from the sharing of diverse global practices.

The EuroPCR programme will also offer content with a focus on the NextGen, including Learning sessions on the essentials of bifurcation PCI, OCT, CTO, IVUS, TAVI and rotational atherectomy, as well as a must-see session on 3D cardiac anatomy and another on cases with treatment dilemmas.

Participants will find 9 sessions tailored by and for Nurses and Allied Professionals. Topics have been inspired by a new survey among the community and include: evidence in clinical practice, MINOCA, femoral access, structural heart interventions, how to train staff as well as inform/educate patients, and a session on the taboo of mental health in the cathlab.

Two additional Courses will be taking place the day before EuroPCR, on 13 May 2024:

PCR Innovators Day connects the key stakeholders in innovation in the cardiovascular community, and reflects on what will be the field’s next big thing. This year’s innovation presentations will focus on valves, heart failure and renal denervation, with a reward for the best innovation donated by the Jon DeHaan Foundation.

The EAPCI-PCR Fellows Course will enable early career practitioners to actively engage in dedicated case-based sessions and benefit from unique networking opportunities. The 2024 programme includes three-vessel disease, STEMI, left main and calcified stenosis, as well as a session on presentation skills.
