Ice Formation (2 of 3) (IMAGE)
Caption
As ice forms from supercooled water (white), some crystalline ice (red) is present but there is much more “intermediate ice” (green) crisscrossing the liquid. Water molecules form tetrahedron shapes in deeply supercooled water, facilitating the ice-formation process, University of Utah chemists found.
