Arctic Researchers Grapple with Climate and Travel Paradox (IMAGE)
Caption
Norwegian University of Science and Technology biologist Bjørn Munro Jenssen out in the field in Svalbard. Like all field researchers on the Norwegian archipelago, he has to carry a rifle and a flare gun because of the risk of polar bear attack. Now he's one of a group of researchers encouraging peers to consider cutting flights because of the damage global heating is doing to Arctic sea ice.
