Inside the enzyme (IMAGE)
Caption
The enzyme SacC seen by cryo-electron microscopy, with each working part in a different color and its partner protein SacE in green. A synthetic molecule, designed to imitate one of the enzyme's reaction intermediates, was attached so the enzyme could be caught mid-cycle. The map shows it held in a pocket that selectively recognizes one among several closely related amino acids.
