Associate Professor Menglin Chen from the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Aarhus University leads the research into the light-sensitive nanoparticles. The project began seven years ago with an idea for microscopic “solar cells” that could communicate with living cells using light. Today, the researchers are developing the technology as a potential future retinal prosthesis.
