Caption
(a) Geologic cross section of upper Cretaceous rocks at the Har Nof hill, showing a typical slope whose vegetation and soil were probably stripped during extreme fire events, according to the isotopic record. Kubm – Bet Meir Formation, dolomite interbedded with marls; Kumo – Moza Fm., marls; Kua – Aaminadav Fm., dolomite and limestone; Kuks – chalk, marls and limestone. (b) The bedrock section and artificial cave entrance ~5 m below surface, truncated by construction works. Note the almost lack of soil on the surface. (c) View inside the cave, showing the elongated vadose shaft form, decorated with speleothems. Photo: Boaz Langford. (d) Plan and sections of the cave, mapped by Boaz Langford, 2024.
