Caption
The agent receives information about the external environment through vision, olfaction, temperature sensing, and collision, while monitoring four internal variables: satiation, hydration, body temperature, and damage. Training progresses through four increasingly complex levels that introduce resources, obstacles, and predators. The agent is rewarded for maintaining its internal variables within viable ranges. Separate test environments present conditions not encountered during training to evaluate how well the agent adapts to unfamiliar situations.
