This animation illustrates the layer-resolved structural evolutions of 1T-TaS2 driven by the proposed two-tier sliding mechanism. Coordinated interlayer and intralayer atomic-plane sliding induces 1T-to-1H phase transformations and leads to the formation of hetero-phase superlattices through stacking reconstruction.
