Scientists Demonstrate Ultrafast Metasurface Switching (IMAGE)
Caption
This international study united researchers from the Australian National University (Australia), Sofia University and the John Atanasoff Centre for Bio and Nano Photonics (Bulgaria), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and Nottingham Trent University (UK). Supported by the EU Horizon 2020 METAFAST project and Bulgaria's HEPHAESTUS Research Infrastructure grant, the collaboration combined expertise in ultrafast laser instrumentation, dispersion-engineered metasurfaces, fabrication, and computational modelling. Fabrication was completed at ANU through the Australian National Fabrication Facility and TMOS, while final experiments were conducted in Bulgaria's advanced laboratories. The project highlights the success of international collaboration in advancing time-variant metasurface research.
