Overview of super homotypic targeting (IMAGE)
Caption
Cells release tiny packages called extracellular vesicles that carry information about the cells they came from. In blood and other fluids, these vesicles are mixed together, making it difficult to identify specific types. To overcome this challenge, the researchers coated the vesicles they wanted to target with lanthanide metal ions which strengthened bonds between cells and corresponding vesicles by a factor of over 25. They call this enhanced ability “super homotypic targeting.” ©2026 Goda et al. CC-BY-ND
