Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy Hydropower Testing Network (HyTN) as a testing provider. The HyTN links hydropower developers with testing facilities and experts across the country, including access to mechanical test stands in SwRI’s Turbomachinery Research Facility where hydropower machinery can be driven at power levels up to 3 MWe, at variable speed (up to speeds exceeding 20,000 rpm), and under full instrumentation to quantify shaft, bearing, and rotordynamic performance.
