Devi Balakrishnan, Ph.D., in the department of entomology and plant pathology for the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, was the first author of "Rice spikelets trap and kill caterpillars using trichomes," published in Ecological Processes in March 2026 with her adviser Rupesh Kariyat, an associate professor of crop entomology in the department and the Clyde H.
