Historical and target deep-seafloor observation locations.

A total of 11,267 unique historical seafloor observation locations (orange) are primarily concentrated within 200 nm of the coastlines of high-income countries. Our 10,000 proposed target seafloor observation locations (yellow) spatially balance global deep-seafloor visual observations worldwide and nearly double the number of visually explored unique locations.
