HIF-1α regulates the expression of ALKBH5, and HIF-2α regulates the expression of YTHDF2; these mechanisms drive hypoxia-induced malignancy of hepatocellular carcinoma by promoting Gal-1 translation. In brief, the up-regulation of Gal-1 in HCC is positively related to ALKBH5 and YTHDF2.
