Transmittance of the manufactured hybrid plastic scintillators with PMMA at concentrations of 0–80 wt% (IMAGE)
Caption
The dependence of the transmittance on PMMA exhibits strong absorption in the range of 200.0−415.0 nm wavelength. The hybrid scintillators show a high transmissivity of 70.0%~90.0% above 415.0 nm, more optically transparent than that of pure polystyrene-based plastic scintillator. With PMMA increase, the transmittance tends to increase over the entire visible light range. However, it decreasesas PMMA increases above 50.0 wt%, possibly due to the Rayleigh scattering of the fluorescence dye aggregation as the dissolution of the dyes in PMMA is not as fa vorable as that in pure polystyrene.
