In the early stage of implantation (Day 4.5), DP, EP2, and EP4 receptors are expressed in the luminal epithelium (LE), contributing to epithelial breakdown through the actions of PGD2 and PGE2, produced by COX-2. By the later stage (Day 5.5), DP and EP4 receptors are found in the mesometrial and anti-mesometrial stroma, respectively, promoting decidualization in cooperation with PGD2 and PGE2.
