Microinjection of sea star egg cells (oocytes) to deliver research tools to the interior of the cells. As an alternative to the invasiveness of microinjection, a new, nature-based method for delivering cargo into eggs and embryos has been developed at the Marine Biological Laboratory. Proof of principle was demonstrated in Patiria miniata and is described in Clarke et al, Development, 2024.
