Child undernutrition may be contributing to global measles outbreaks, researchers find

Amid a global surge in measles cases, new research suggests that undernutrition may be exacerbating outbreaks in areas suffering from food insecurity.

A study involving over 600 fully vaccinated children in South Africa found those who were undernourished had substantially lower levels of antibodies against measles.

The staying power of bifocal contact lens benefits in young kids

Study identifies mechanism underlying increased osteoarthritis risk in postmenopausal females

Osteoarthritis disproportionally affects postmenopausal women, and a biological mechanism for why this occurs has been largely unkown, hindering development of effective treatments. That is in part because of a lack of reliable animal models of menopause. In a new study, Spaulding Rehabilitation researchers used a mouse model of menopause to uncover a novel mechanism for OA onset in older females and test possible interventions.

Drug in clinical trials for breast cancer could also treat some blood cancers
