In a new study, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Professor Hiro Furukawa and postdoc Hyunook Kang prove the existence of a mysterious brain receptor known as GluN1-2B-2D. They also show several ways the drug ketamine can interact with GluN1-2B-2D. Their research may lead to safer treatments for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.
