Korea University College of Medicine (Dean: Sung Bom Pyun) successfully held the 8th KU International Medical Student Research Conference from December 19 to December 20, 2025 at the First Medical Building of Korea University College of Medicine.
The conference is an annual international academic event organized by Korea University College of Medicine. Now in its eighth year, it has continued to expand in both scale and scope. This year’s program welcomed approximately 200 medical students and faculty members from 18 universities across 10 countries, including Yale University and Johns Hopkins University in the United States, Monash University in Australia, the University of Bologna in Italy, Nagoya University in Japan, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
On the first day, participants registered and took part in a guided tour of Korea University College of Medicine. This was followed by a poster session and a welcome reception, which provided valuable opportunities for academic exchange and networking. During the poster presentations, participants introduced the background, methodology, and key findings of their research, and engaged in meaningful discussions and feedback with fellow researchers.
On the second day, the conference officially commenced with opening remarks by Dean Sung Bom Pyun following the morning poster session. Professor Gou Young Koh, KAIST Graduate School of Medical Science, delivered the keynote lecture titled “An Explorer and Discoverer as a Vascular Biologist,” offering valuable perspectives on the role and mindset of physician-scientists committed to advancing research.
The oral presentation sessions were held in two separate lecture halls. The morning sessions featured presentations in AI & BI in medicine and basic medical sciences, as well as research in oncology and clinical medicine, particularly in cardiology and neurology. In the afternoon, students presented their year-long research findings in clinical medicine, including internal medicine, surgery, and related fields, followed by active question-and-answer sessions and academic discussions.
Dean Sung Bom Pyun remarked, “The 8th KU International Medical Student Research Conference served as a valuable platform for students to present their research and enhance their academic competencies through international exchange. I hope they will continue to pursue new challenges with dedication to scholarship and research, and emerge as future leaders in medical science.”
