Daily Clock Genes Affect Yellowing of Leaves (IMAGE)
Caption
Daily clock genes affect yellowing of the leaves. Plants lacking one of the nine major genes that controls daily timekeeping experience earlier or delayed leaf senescence. Plants missing the key genes elf3-7, elf4-209 and lux-2 age faster than the normal plants (Col-0). In contrast, cca1-11, prr7-3, prr9-1, toc1-101, and gi-2 mutants showed delayed senescence. These results confirm that the biological daily clock is closely related to the control of senescence of leaves.
