How Thalidomide Affects Limb and Ear Development (IMAGE)
Caption
Thalidomide binds to cereblon (CRBN) and causes abnormal limb and ear development by inducing the breakdown of proteins called ?Np63α and TAp63α through a process known as ubiquitination. This model suggests that the defects are triggered through downregulation of growth factors called Fgf8 and Atoh1.
