The herbivore-induced plant volatile indole makes Spodoptera littoralis caterpillars (right) more resistant and less attractive to Micropolitis rufiventris parasitoids (left). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 16 May 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by M. Ye at University of Bern in Bern, Switzerland, and colleagues was titled, "An herbivore-induced plant volatile reduces parasitoid attraction by changing the smell of caterpillars."
