On Sept. 5 at 1:06 a.m. EDT (0505 UTC) the VIIRS instrument aboard NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite provided an infrared image of Hurricane Florence. Strongest thunderstorms with coldest clouds tops appear in red.
