Harmful Protein Buildup Predicts Brain Atrophy in Alzheimer's Disease (1 of 1) (IMAGE)
Caption
PET scans of patients with early Alzheimer's disease showed that binding of a marker of tau protein correlated to regions of atrophy in the brain (colored areas). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 1, 2020, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by R. La Joie at University of California, San Francisco in San Francisco; and colleagues was titled, " Prospective longitudinal atrophy in Alzheimer's disease correlates with the intensity and topography of baseline tau-PET."
