Plant Study Reveals Root Regulator (1 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
Matsuzaki et al. discovered a family of novel peptide hormones (named RGFs) required for maintenance of the root stem cell niche and cell proliferation in Arabidopsis roots. This photograph shows localization of RGF peptides visualized by anti-RGF antibody in the root tip. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Aug. 27, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Yo Matsuzaki of Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Secreted Peptide Signals Required for Maintenance of Root Stem Cell Niche in Arabidopsis."
