2006 Recipient of the Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine

Dr. Xiaodong Wang (center), professor of biochemistry and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, has been named the 2006 recipient of the $1 million Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine. Joining him at Wednesday's announcement were: Dr. Kern Wildenthal, president of UT Southwestern; Dr. Steven McKnight, chairman of biochemistry; Dr. Alfred Gilman, executive vice president for academic affairs, provost and dean of UT Southwestern Medical School; and Robert A. Estrada, Regent of The University of Texas System. Dr. Wang will receive the international award from the Hong Kong-based Shaw Prize Foundation at a September ceremony.
