Tubulin Glutamylation (IMAGE)
Caption
Tubulin glutamylation is a reversible post-translational modification dynamically regulated by TTLL and CCP enzymes. TTLLs catalyze glutamate chain initiation and elongation on the C-terminal tails of α/β-tubulin, whereas CCPs mediate glutamate chain trimming and deglutamylation. Through this reversible regulation, tubulin glutamylation fine-tunes microtubule properties and contributes to diverse cellular processes, including ciliary function, neuronal development and function, endoplasmic reticulum organization, centrosome and mitotic spindle function, and cytoskeletal organization.
