Manipulation of embedded nanostructures by femtosecond laser (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers propose a top-down two-step strategy for the controllable synthesis of chiral nanostructures inside optical crystals. They first encapsulated gold nanoparticles in yttrium aluminum garnet crystals, then used a femtosecond laser with continuously varying polarization direction to manipulate them.
