Overview of road network generation (IMAGE)
Caption
Overview of the proposed complexity-controllable road network generation framework. The workflow is organized into three systematic stages: road element modeling extracts fundamental road topologies elements from real roads, establishing parameterized models with quantitative complexity labels;
road network synthesis employs heuristic optimization algorithms to interconnect element instances, balancing multiple core objectives including network fidelity and scenario density while enforcing non-intersection and non-overlapping constraints to generate topologically valid, seamlessly connected road networks; scenario map construction converts the abstract topological network into a high-fidelity high-definition (HD) map compliant with the OpenDRIVE standard, incorporating detailed geometric features such as lane tapers, curve transitions, and standardized lane markings.
