Decadal accumulation of display materials in pristine soils of the Three Poles. Expanding consumer electronics drive high-volume production of liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) and organic light-emitting materials (OLEMs), which can undergo long-range atmospheric transport and accumulate in soils of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau, Arctic, and Antarctic. Across 55 surface soils collected between 2010 and 2022, 42 target analogs were detected at total concentrations up to 3,130 pg g⁻¹ dry weight (dw), with 33 showing upward annualized growth and higher ecological risk quotients (RQs) on the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau, supporting evaluation under international regulatory frameworks.
