Bypassing the Rocksalt Intermediate: A Low-Temperature Route to High-Performance LiNiO2 Cathodes with Suppressed Phase Transformation (IMAGE)
Caption
A low-temperature reaction−high-temperature crystallization strategy fundamentally bypasses the “layered→rocksalt→layered” phase transition of conventional LiNiO2 synthesis by decoupling lithiation from crystallization. The resulting product delivers >220 mAh g−1 with 90% initial Coulombic efficiency and retains 72.5% capacity after 200 cycles (vs. 53.1%), owing to suppressed rocksalt formation, reduced c-axis contraction, and reversible H2−H3 transition.
