Mapping the hidden disorder landscape of a moiré heterostructure (IMAGE)
Caption
In a twisted MoSe2/WSe2 moiré heterostructure, photoluminescence varies from point to point as excitons respond to both smooth disorder and local trap-like sites. This illustration shows how spatial patterns in complex light emission can be used to infer a hidden hierarchical disorder landscape without assigning individual spectral peaks.
