Video: New national observatory will bring ultra-high resolution brain mapping tools to life sciences (VIDEO)
Caption
University of Vermont neuroscientist Davi Bock discusses a $19 million National Science Foundation project to design a national observatory for exploring life’s smallest structures in three dimensions. Combining electron microscopy, artificial intelligence and advanced computing, the UVM-led collaboration with UC San Diego aims to make these powerful tools accessible to researchers nationwide. Bock explains the science behind the effort and how it could help researchers investigate questions ranging from how learning changes brain wiring to how single-celled organisms are organized.
